Terms of Service

1. Who We Are

Ami is operated by Esoterican Inc., an Ontario corporation ("Esoterican," "we," "us," or "our"), based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. You can reach us at support@astroami.com.

By accessing or using Ami at astroami.com or through our iOS application (together, the "Service"), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The Service

Ami provides personalized astrology readings, natal chart calculations, astrocartography, synastry analysis, and transit information based on real astronomical data calculated using Swiss Ephemeris software. Readings are generated with the assistance of artificial intelligence.

For entertainment and personal reflection only. Ami's readings are offered as a tool for personal reflection and self-understanding. Ami is not a licensed counseling, mental health, financial, legal, or medical service, and nothing in the Service constitutes professional advice of any kind. You agree not to rely on Ami's readings as a substitute for professional medical, legal, financial, or psychological care, and not to use them to make decisions involving your health, safety, finances, legal matters, or the well-being of others.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under 18, you confirm that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have done so, we will delete that information promptly.

4. Your Account

Certain features require you to create an account using your email address. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at support@astroami.com if you suspect unauthorized access.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe are being used for abusive, fraudulent, or unlawful purposes.

5. Subscriptions and Payments

The tiers

Ami is a paid subscription service offered in three tiers:

• Free — one full chart reading and three follow-up conversations with Ami, total, lifetime per email. After that, generating new readings requires a paid subscription. You keep what Ami has already given you forever, including the ability to re-read it, share it, and browse the community.
• Ami — a paid subscription that unlocks ongoing access to Ami’s full chart readings, all reading modes (Basic, Nerd, and Roast), saving and exporting your readings, synastry comparisons, and full community participation. Available monthly or annually.
• Ami Pro — a paid subscription that includes everything in Ami plus unlimited charts, the practitioner profile, practitioner lounge access, paper submission for World Events, astrocartography, and longer-form sharing tools. Available monthly or annually.

Current prices for each tier are published at astroami.com and shown to you before you complete any purchase.

How billing works

Paid subscriptions are billed through Apple’s In-App Purchase system on iOS and through Stripe on the web. By subscribing, you agree to the billing terms below in addition to the applicable platform’s own terms.

• Subscriptions auto-renew unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• You can cancel anytime through your Apple ID settings (iOS) or your Ami account (web). Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current paid period — you won’t be charged again, and you keep access until that period ends.
• We don’t refund partial subscription periods except where required by law or by Apple’s or Stripe’s policies.
• If we ever change subscription prices, we’ll give you reasonable advance notice before the change takes effect, and you’ll be able to cancel before the new price applies.

3-day free trial on Ami

We offer a 3-day free trial on the Ami monthly subscription. A payment method is required to start the trial. If you don’t cancel before the end of the trial, the trial automatically converts to a paid Ami subscription at the then-current monthly price. You can cancel during the trial at any time through your account; cancelling before the trial ends prevents any charge. Anything Ami generated for you during the trial is yours to keep regardless.

Time extensions and one-time purchases

If you reach your daily conversation limit on Ami or Ami Pro, you may purchase a one-time time extension to continue talking with Ami for an additional period that day. Extensions are charged at a fixed price per purchase, are non-refundable once activated, and are subject to a maximum number per day per tier as published in the app. Extensions do not modify your subscription term or auto-renewal settings.

Founding Member and Founding Practitioner programs

During an initial signup window, we may offer limited-quantity “Founding Member” and “Founding Practitioner” annual subscriptions at promotional rates. If you are accepted into one of these programs, your renewal price will remain at the promotional rate for as long as your subscription remains active and in good standing, even if our standard prices increase later. These programs are available on a first-come, first-served basis and close once the published cap is reached. Lifetime price-lock is a contractual benefit of the program; lapsing or cancelling the subscription forfeits the lifetime rate, and re-subscription will be at the then-current standard price.

Discounted access programs

We may offer discounted subscription rates to verified students, seniors, and other qualifying groups. Eligibility is verified through a third-party verification provider; if you no longer qualify, your subscription will roll over to the standard rate at the next renewal with reasonable advance notice.

6. Data We Collect and How We Use It

We only collect what we need to make Ami work for you:

• Birth data — date, time, and location of birth, used solely to calculate your astrological chart.
• Name — used to personalize your reading experience.
• Email address — used for account creation, login, and service communications.
• Chat messages — your conversations with Ami are stored locally on your device and, if you are signed in, may be synced to our servers to enable access across devices.

Birth data is sensitive. Date, time, and location of birth, taken together, can identify a person uniquely. We treat birth data accordingly. It is stored encrypted in a database hosted in Central Canada (Montreal), accessible only to your account, and never shared with third parties except those strictly required to operate the Service (described below). We retain birth data only for as long as your account remains active. You can delete your birth data at any time by deleting your account or by contacting us at support@astroami.com. Your rights under PIPEDA (Canada), GDPR (European Union), and CCPA (California) — including the rights to access, correct, port, and delete your personal information — are honoured regardless of where you live.

We use this information to provide and improve the Service. We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with third parties except as necessary to operate the Service (e.g., our AI provider, cloud hosting, and payment processors) or as required by law.

Ami's AI readings are powered by Anthropic's Claude API. Messages you send to Ami may be processed by Anthropic in accordance with Anthropic's Privacy Policy.

7. Research and Improving Ami

We may use anonymized, aggregated chart and interaction data for internal research — including studying how astrological precision relates to reading accuracy, and improving Ami's interpretive engine over time. Before any data enters research, your name, email, and account ID are stripped, and your birth location is approximated to a regional level rather than your exact city or coordinates.

We keep birth time exact. Birth time is the part of a chart that moves fastest — the rising sign and house cusps shift roughly every two hours — so fuzzing it would destroy the accuracy of any research the data could support, which would defeat the point of doing the research at all.

Research data lives in a separate database with no link back to your account. You can opt out at any time in Settings, and if you do, no further data from your charts or readings will enter research storage from that point on.

8. Intellectual Property

All content in the Service — including the Ami name and brand, interface design, astrological methodology, AI system prompts, and generated readings — is owned by Esoterican Inc. or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without our prior written permission.

You retain ownership of the personal information you provide (your birth data, name, etc.). By submitting it, you grant us a limited license to use it solely to provide the Service to you.

9. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any regulations.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract the Service's underlying AI methodology, system prompts, or ephemeris data in bulk.
• Use automated tools to access the Service in ways that impose unreasonable load on our infrastructure.
• Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation.
• Transmit any content that is harmful, threatening, harassing, or that infringes any third-party rights.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service or its related systems.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that astrological calculations or AI readings will be accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose.

Astronomical calculations are based on Swiss Ephemeris data and are as accurate as that data allows. AI-generated readings are interpretive and may vary. Neither constitutes factual statements about the future.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Esoterican Inc. and its officers, directors, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of or inability to use the Service.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) one hundred US dollars ($100).

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Esoterican Inc. and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.

13. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be resolved exclusively in the courts located in Toronto, Ontario, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.

Before filing any claim, you agree to contact us at support@astroami.com and give us 30 days to attempt to resolve the dispute informally.

Controlling language. Ami is offered in multiple languages, and these Terms may be made available in translation as a convenience. The English version of these Terms is the legally controlling version. If there is any conflict or inconsistency between the English version and a translation, the English version governs.

14. Third-Party Library Attributions

Ami is built with several third-party software libraries and data sources. The most significant of these is the Swiss Ephemeris by Astrodienst AG, which Ami uses under a commercial license to perform precise astronomical calculations.

The full attribution text required by Astrodienst will be inserted here once the Swiss Ephemeris commercial license is finalized. Until then, Ami acknowledges Astrodienst AG as the source of the Swiss Ephemeris software and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory at the California Institute of Technology as the source of the underlying ephemeris data.

Other libraries and data sources used by Ami include the open-source mapping library Leaflet (BSD-2-Clause), CARTO basemap tiles (used under CARTO's free basemap terms), city and place data from GeoNames (used under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence), and various other open-source components, each used under its respective licence. 15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date above and, for material changes, notify you by email or through an in-app notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

16. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Sections 8 (Intellectual Property), 10 (Disclaimer of Warranties), 11 (Limitation of Liability), 12 (Indemnification), and 13 (Governing Law) survive termination.
